How We Test & Rank Social Media Tools

BestPostAPI is an independent editorial project. We buy paid plans, build against every API and re-test all 20 tools at least once per quarter. Rankings are decided before any affiliate discussion — no vendor pays for placement.

1. What we score

Every tool is scored across five weighted dimensions: pricing transparency (25%), API quality (25%), platform coverage (20%), media handling (15%) and support & docs (15%).

Pricing transparency covers published tiers, per-account/seat models and hidden add-ons. API quality means real REST/GraphQL access, documented rate limits, official SDKs and error semantics. Platform coverage is measured against a fixed list of 15 networks. Media handling scores file-size caps, server-side transcoding and resumable uploads. Support & docs weighs response time, docs freshness and SLA claims.

2. How we test

We buy the lowest paid plan of every tool and, where relevant, one higher tier so we can verify feature gating first-hand. Each API is exercised with a real scheduling workflow across at least 5 platforms, including a video upload above 100 MB.

Rate limits are stress-tested with 60 concurrent requests. Media pipelines are validated with 4K MP4, HDR and vertical clips. All tests are logged and re-run before every quarterly refresh.

3. Update cadence

Rankings and prices are reviewed monthly. A full re-test — including API smoke tests and video pipeline validation — runs at least once per quarter. Every page shows the month of its last update in the footer.

4. Editorial independence & affiliate links

Some links on BestPostAPI use the redirect prefix filedesign.com/go/ and pay us a commission if you buy. Commissions never influence rankings — tools without any affiliate program are included and scored on the same criteria. See our affiliate disclosure for details.

5. Who we are

BestPostAPI is run by a small independent editorial team of developers and marketers who have shipped scheduling code in production. Editorial contact: [email protected].
